Recovery from the inside out
How Can Naturopathic Medicine Help Me?
Naturopathic Medicine works from the inside-out, supporting digestion, hormones, and your injury recovery outside of physical rehab. This practice of medicine teaches you to better understand your body and how it can take care of itself naturally. Naturopathic Doctors are looking to guide you in rebuilding the body from the bottom up to become more efficient with its rehabilitation, energy management and overall performance.

Three Ways to Work Together
Recovery & Performance
Recovery sessions are used for injury repair, chronic pain management and sports performance preparation. A pain and health assessment is used to determine your goals and create your care plan for injury rehabilitation or to prep for your athletic season. Expect to discuss sports nutrition best practices, supplements for rehab or optimization and in-office procedures such as bodywork, IV Vitamin therapy or muscular injection therapies that can help to enhance your care.
IV Vitamin Therapy
Building energy and supporting cellular function means feeding your body with nutrients you might be missing. IV therapy, is a service that allows you to get a customized blend essential nutrients directly into your bloodstream. By taking these nutrients via an IV, we bypass the digestive tract and the nutrients are 100% absorbed into the body. IVs are best to help with energy, fatigue and when nutrients are not well absorbed through food especially due to digestive issues.
Health & Lifestyle
Health and Lifestyle counseling involves addressing your health concerns and creating a plan to help adjust habits to fit your desired lifestyle. This program starts with a comprehensive assessment of your health and habits, including relevant labs and/or functional tests which help in creating your treatment plan. Your plan can include anything from nutrition and lifestyle counseling to supplement recommendations to in-office procedures such as IV therapy or muscular injections.

FAQ: Common questions naturopaths get asked.
How are Naturopathic Doctors Trained?
Naturopathic Doctors are trained as doctors in a 4-year accredited program. They also have to go through a series of licensing exams before they are allowed to call themselves a naturopath or naturopathic doctor, so you know their quality is assured! You can go see a naturopathic doctor for any concern you would see your family doctor for. The difference is in the treatment options offered and available. Naturopaths seek to find the root cause of a condition, focusing on health foundations and will work on lifestyle and nutrition changes before heading down the route of multiple supplements or medications.
Can a Naturopathic Doctor work with my Family Doctor?
Absolutely! We are happy to work with your family doctor to manage your care. Naturopathic doctors take an integrative approach to your care which involves collaboration with all of your health team, including medical doctors, physical therapists, psychotherapist, dieticians, personal trainers and more. You can share all your labs, assessments or care plans yourself, or sign a form to give your naturopathic doctor permission to contact your health team.
So, are you covered by OHIP?
No. Naturopathic Doctors work outside of OHIP; all services are paid by the patient and have coverage by most extended insurance providers.
What’s the difference from a nutritionist?
Naturopathic doctors are leaders in the space of natural healthcare. While nutritionists and dieticians have their strong education in food and some lifestyle habit changes, naturopathic doctors can go further with your care. Because of their medical training, they are able to take the basic nutritional knowledge and cater it to your individual needs with the help of bloodwork and physical assessments. They are able to make the links to other chronic conditions you currently have in order to ensure safety and effective care is given every time. Naturopathic doctors also have special privileges to perform protected acts, such as injection therapies and prescribing appropriate medications that can be used to improve your care.
How can a naturopathic doctor help me with my sport or rehab?
Naturopathic Sports Medicine care compliments your training by supporting your overall health outside of your regular training. Sports medicine looks at both injury recovery and performance optimization for the athletic population. Naturopathic doctors use holistic health to work with the body’s innate healing power and our natural environment to get people started on the right path to understanding what best fuels them and what they can do to keep performing at their best, on and off the playing field. Combining these two makes for an epic addition to your performance or rehab journey. They can be the person on your health team helping you understand best practices for healing from the inside-out and making sure your body doesn’t limit you or your performance goals. Whether it’s giving you tips to manage your chronic inflammation and pain or understanding the supplements you need to take so you actually get the benefits and still qualify under your sports regulations, our naturopathic doctors have you covered.
